Internet: Users' Vision 2018

CertiSur S.A. issues this report based on information from a survey specially commissioned to D'Alessio IROL and conducted during the third quarter of 2018 among frequent Internet users.

Most significant conclusions:

  • Internet access continues to grow: it reaches approximately 33 million people in Argentina (representing 75% of the population).
  • More than 30 million people already shop online, and their profile now exceeds millennials. It's a virtuous circle: more people buying = less fear.
  • Banks have succeeded in gaining their customers' trust: 7 out of 10 feel safe moving money online through their financial institution.
  • Users are clear about what security measures "should be" taken but focus on using the most traditional ones. But...do they actually do it?
  • Lack of knowledge about security tools generates most of the fears.
  • Safe browsing is based on trust in the use of the traditional password, personal experience, and some institutional endorsement (for example, banks) rather than more sophisticated tools.
  • The main responsibility for network security rests with the website. In second place are your actions as a user.
